SHAFFER, Maxine Francis "Maggie" - Age 75, of Burton, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, January 6, 2023 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 E. Bristol Road, Burton. Fr. Steve Anderson celebrant. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Home Thursday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the family.
Maggie was born June 28, 1947 in Flint, the daughter of Anthony Thomas "Chub" and Maxine Winifred (Morgenthau) Guzak. She was a 1965 graduate of Grand Blanc High School. She married David Dwayne Shaffer October 24, 1994 in Angola, IN. She had resided in Burton for the past 30 years, coming from Cadillac. Maggie had been employed by Hatch Enterprise in Flint; she also had been a waitress for Golden Gate and Atlas Coney Islands. She enjoyed collecting dolls and embroidering.
Surviving are: her husband, David; children, Dawn Zuback Miller of Grand Rapids, Darin (Verna) Zuback of Lake City, David Anthony Zuback of Burton, Daniel Peter Zuback of Grand Rapids, Kyle (Meredith) Shaffer of Flint and Heather Lynn Shaffer of Yorktown, VA; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Franklin David (Mary Helen) Guzak of Flushing and Jonathon (Paula) Guzak of Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tommy and Jimmy Guzak; sisters, Marsha Brooks, Becky Varner Mary Graham and Suzanne Versie. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Amy in CCU at McLaren Flint. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
