Maxine Powlison

POWLISON, Maxine T. - age 91, formerly of Fenton, died Sunday, July 17, 2016. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday, August 12, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Flint, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint with Dr. Joseph Novak officiating. Maxine was born April 22, 1925 in Detroit, the daughter of Floyd and Clarsia (Kimball) Zimmer. She married Eugene "Bud" N. Powlison on June 28, 1947 in Fenton and he preceded her in death on June 4, 2011. Maxine was a graduate of Detroit Business College. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Flint where she was a Lay Pastor and served on the Library Board. Maxine was a past volunteer at McLaren Hospital. She was an instructor of the Bishop Method of clothing construction, teaching in Fenton and Holly. She was a former docent at the Flint Institute of Arts and Past President of Chapter BX. Surviving are: two children, David (Lisa) Powlison and Karen (Robert) Benson; grandchildren, Meredith and Spencer Powlison and Brendan and Blaine Benson. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Floyd Zimmer. Those desiring may make contributions to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
