December 19, 1919 — September 29, 2005

GRANT, Maurice A.  Age 85, of Durand, died Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Heartland of Kalamazoo. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, October 3, 2005 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Mercer officiating. Interment will be held 1 PM Monday at the chapel of Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.  Mr. Grant was born December 19, 1919 in Dexter, ME, the son of Clinton M. and Eunice S. (Locke) Grant. He married Lunetta C. Russell on March 29, 1944 in Flint and she preceded him in death on April 11, 2005. Mr. Grant was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. He retired from Genesee Cement Products after 28 years of service. Mr. Grant was a member of Swartz Creek Lodge #458 F& AM, the Fort Charlotte Moose Club, a lifetime member of the WWII Submarine Veterans and a member of Holiday Rambler Travelers Club. Surviving are: two sons, Ronald B. Grant and wife, Carol of Kalamazoo and their children, Heather and husband, Joe Syrowik of Raleigh, NC, Brian and wife, Jessica of Kentwood, MI, Randall A. Grant and wife, Janet of Scottsdale, AZ and their son, Jeremy Froman of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Rachel Buck, three brothers, Lloyd Grant, Vernon Grant and wife, Jean, and Stanley Grant; sister-in-law Shirley and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Marion; brothers, Bruce and Forrest; sister-in-law, Donna Grant and brother-in-law Edward Buck.
