Maureen Staples

STAPLES, Maureen Emily - Age 86, of Linden, died Saturday, February 12, 2022.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden (A live stream of the service will be available on Maureen's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com).  Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly at a later date.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 10 AM until the time of the service.  Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Maureen was born September 11, 1935 in Boston, MA, the daughter of Frank and Josephine (McDonough) Metcalf.  She was a veteran and First Lieutenant of the U.S. Air Force.  She married Dr. James Staples June 4, 1960 in Tea Ticket, MA.  Maureen retired from Argentine Care Center as a registered nurse after 36 years of service.  She had resided in Linden since 1968 coming from Imlay City.

Surviving are: her husband of 61 years, Dr. James Staples; children, Marion Staples of Lansing, James J. (Laura) Staples of New Hudson, and William J. (Patricia) Staples of Houghton; grandchildren, James J. Staples II (Ashley) of Northfield and William Travis Staples of New Hudson; 7 great grandchildren; brother, James Metcalf (Evelyn) of Massachusetts; special nephew, Richard J. Staples (Vickie) of DeWitt; and several other nieces and nephews.
