Those wishing to send condolences can visit his obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. Sharp Funeral Homes & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road in Grand Blanc has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. Matt was born on November 14, 1960, in Flint, Michigan to the late Glen & Mary (Pickering) Heiman. He attended Flint Central High School, class of 1978. Matt was employed as a lathe hand at Models & Tools. From childhood Matt had a strong desire to know how things worked. He was notorious for taking apart such things like toys and doorknobs in an attempt to rebuild them and know how they worked. This love of how things operated turned into a fascination with bigger engines like those in cars and more specifically Hot Rods. Throughout his many years he fixed, built and raced custom hot rod cars. Those who were closest to Matt knew he had a talent for gardening, of which he proudly could say he had Michigan's largest Butterfly Bushes in his own yard after years of diligent care. Matt always had a Pitbull dog at his side. He had many good Pitty's throughout his years that he bred, trained, rescued and showed. Winning Best in Show with his beloved Bruiser. All in all, Matt was a Michigander who loved all things outdoors such as fishing, kayaking and hiking. He is survived by his children, Amanda (Marlon) Miller, Mitchell Heiman and Jennifer Welch; 2 grandchildren, Matteo and Shianne; his siblings, George (Cathy) Heiman, Carol (Dave) Irwin and Lindy Heiman; sister-in-law, Sue Heiman; many nieces and nephews: his partner, Tiffany Kinnamon and her son, Johnny; and his Pitbull, Fat Boy.
