Contributions in lieu of flowers would be given in memory of Matthew to Victory Academy for Boys (victoryacademyforboys.org.) Matthew was born May 4, 2005, in Grand Blanc, Michigan, the son of Robert and Susan Jaster. He lived in both Swartz Creek and Flushing. He loved baseball, playing travel ball for the Flushing Raiders for years, and for the Davison Coyotes; he loved playing CHASE (home school league) basketball for several years, and one season of baseball; debating (KAIROS - Communicators for Christ); disc golf; and nature photography. Above all, according to the personal testimony he shared after receiving baptism two weeks ago, he loved Jesus. After being home schooled through 10th grade, he completed the 11th grade year at Victory Academy for Boys, where he confronted episodes of debilitating depression. In his testimony after baptism, he said, “I had to choose to get off the coattail of my parents’ faith and make it my own. I feel I have now done that, and am happy to serve Jesus with all my heart". His family and friends grieve over his anguished last battle. He sorely will be missed by his parents, Bob and Sue Jaster; siblings Bobby, Mandy, and Kristin, all of Swartz Creek; both grandmothers, Margaret Dyck of Ontario, Canada, and Benita Jaster of New Lothrop, Michigan; beloved aunts and uncles Anne and Ralph of Ontario, Peter and Roger of British Columbia, John and Karen of Ohio, Marge of Ontario, Ron and Doris of New Lothrop, Doris and Leo of Flushing, and Edward and Denise of Georgia; and many cousins and friends.
