Mary Ann was born on July 1, 1948 in Rogers City, Michigan to the late Joseph and Lillian (Chrzan) Smith. She met the love of her life, and best friend, Joseph Holzer. They would marry in 1969 in Alpena and soon after, they moved to Fenton. Mary Ann loved camping, especially during the Halloween season, at the Holly Recreation Area State Park, and in other seasons at Seven Lakes State Park. She and Joe were Campground Hosts, and won best decorated Halloween campsite on several occasions. She also loved tending her flower garden, and spending time with, and taking care of her children and grandchildren. With her grandsons, she loved playing checkers, walking to the Mill Pond to feed the ducks, and to the library to pick out movies. Her sugar cookies were the best; her three-layered German chocolate cake was a yearly birthday specialty, and her orange salad replicated at every holiday table. She was known for her infectious smile and her kind and compassionate
spirit.
She is survived by Joseph Holzer, her husband of 51 years; her two children, Marcus (Suzanna) and Aaron (Racheal); her four grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Thomas, and Nicolas; her two brothers, Don Smith (Jacqui) and Jerry Smith (Melody); one niece and many nephews; several cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, Eddie and Mary Holzer. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
May Eternal Rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
