Durant, Maryalice, age 68, of Fenton, died Saturday, February 18, 2006 at Avalon Hospice. A Memorial Mass will be held 11AM Monday, March 6, 2006 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St. Fenton., Rev. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Visitation will be held 10AM until the time of Mass, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Outreach or Avalon Hospice. Maryalice was born June 21, 1937 in Detroit, the daughter of Otto and Alice (Max) Boettcher. She was raised in Fenton and was a 1955 graduate of Fenton High School. Maryalice married Raymond Durant July 19, 1958 in Fenton. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, The Dibbleville Questers, Fenton Beautification Commission, and Fenton Historical Society. She volunteered at Fenton Hospice which later became Avalon hospice. Maryalice was a lady who always wanted to do the right thing for people. She and her husband, Ray founded Uncle Rays Dairyland in 1978, where she will be remembered for her five-layer ice cream cake which consisted of two layers of cake and two layers of homemade ice cream with a layer of fudge in between, and all the frosting and toppings were made by hand. She was very instrumental in making the family business run smoothly, her cheerful disposition and bubbly sense of humor made it seem like a family reunion every day for her sons who joined the business right out of high school. She loved her family and always gave them her total attention, she was a best friend to them. Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years, Ray; 2 loyal sons, David Durant and friend, Paula Blandford of Fenton, Steven 'Todd' Durant and wife, Bridget of Linden; sister-in-law, Marie Harris and husband Robert of Fenton.
