Mary Alice Watson

February 28, 1937 — April 4, 2024

Flint

Mary Alice (Holiday) Watson, 87, of Flint Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2024 at home surrounded by family and friends.

Mary was born on February 28, 1937 in Detroit Michigan to Ester (Holiday) Ruse. She grew up in Bay City Michigan and moved to Flint when she was 16, where she proudly lived until her death. Mary married Joseph Watson on December 17, 1955 and they shared 48 years together. Mary built a career for herself as a custodian with the Flint Community Schools until her retirement in 1997.

Throughout her life, Mary was known for the way she brought people together. She showed her love through her food and always had a table full of family & friends. Mary inadvertently created many traditions that will be carried on for generations. Traditions like annual Frankenmuth trips for ornaments and her famous sausage gravy and biscuits on Christmas morning.

Mary enjoyed traveling, shopping, attending craft shows, cooking, canning, collecting dogs, soap operas and her 1995 Chevy Impala, which if she could have found a way, she would have been buried in. She was in a bowling league when she was younger and when she spent her winters in Florida, you could find her at Cypress Gardens every weekend. To say Mary had a zest for life is an understatement and sharing that zest with those she loved was her greatest passion and the best gift she could give.

Mary was a beautiful woman who had a way of making everyone feel worthy, safe and loved.

Mary will be deeply missed by her children; Lenna (Jimmy Roper) Watson and Darin Watson; grandchildren, William (Sarah) Sweet, Crystal Sweet, Joseph Watson, Katrina Mashack and Jenniefer (Matthew) Thomason; several great and great-great grandchildren, too many neighborhood kids to list and so many more.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Watson; mother, Ester Holiday; daughter, Candy Sweet; and great grandson, Aaydon Watson.

Details for Mary's celebration of life will be available soon. Arrangements were entrusted to Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
