SPENCER, Mary Clippard - died June 9, 2012 in Royal Oak, Michigan. Mary Ella Myers was born in Flint on March 1, 1933 to Kenneth and Dorothy Myers. She graduated from Dye High School in 1951. She became a registered nurse in 1954 after graduating from Saginaw General Hospital. She began her nursing career at McLaren Hospital. She later worked as a public health nurse for the City of Flint Health Department. Mary also worked at Mott Community College in health services and as an Infection Control Specialist at a Tawas nursing home. Miss Myers married Thomas Clippard on May 7, 1955. They raised their family and resided in Swartz Creek for over twenty years. Mary loved her family above all else. She made every day special and fun. She enjoyed golfing and bowling on leagues for many years, family camping trips, casinos, and every holiday. She lost Tom in 1987 after 32 wonderful years of marriage. She was reunited with a childhood friend, Ted Spencer, and they married in 1990. After 19 years of marriage, Ted passed away suddenly in 2010. Mary was the first to lend a hand to those in need. She loved spring time, flowers, candles, and music. She was optimistic, caring, and possessed a keen sense of humor and intellect. Mary was a strong supporter of public education, a democrat, and an advocate for equal rights for all. She had a radiant spirit of joy and love that touched everyone around her. She is forever in the hearts of her children, Amy (Francisco) Perez, Susan (Reiner) Herrmann, and Thomas K.(Carol) Clippard; grandchildren, James (Jennifer) Street, Ryan McAvoy, Thomas W. and Alexandra Clippard, Alex and David Perez; great grandchild, Colin Street; sister, Suzanne Abbenante. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, soul mate Thomas L. Clippard, sweet husband Ted Spencer, sister Betty Rathburn, brothers John and Don Myers, niece Ann Hargadon and nephew Kenneth Myers. A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012, 11:30AM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Michigan.
