MOON, Mary Ellen - age 74, of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, August 18, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Rev. Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Visitation will also be held 10 AM - 11 AM Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Mary Ellen was born June 23, 1944 in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Edward and Helen (Connolly) Cary. She grew up in Fairport, NY. She married Edwin Moon on July 17, 1971. Mary Ellen received a bachelor's degree from University of Dayton and a Master's degree from Wright State University. She was a school teacher at Patterson Elementary School in Dayton, OH for many years. Mary Ellen volunteered for many organizations utilizing her education skills, as well as, volunteering for Salem House in Flint and Petco. Surviving are: husband, Edwin of Swartz Creek; daughter, Ellen (Greg) Daniel of Morton Grove, IL. She was preceded in death by: her parents; and two brothers, Thomas and Michael Cary.
