Mary L. Michael

Mary L. Michael, age 86, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 2PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 3PM at Cornerstone Baptist Church,6273 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's name to the Humane Society-Genesee County, G-3325 Dort Highway, Burton, MI 48529. Online condolences can by shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. 

Mary was born on August 20, 1936 at her childhood home in Mt. Morris, Michigan to the late Lloyd & Elsie Ashe. She then married her high school sweet heart, Alan D. Michael on March 1, 1958 and together they were blessed with their four children. She was employed with the Humane Society-Genesee County as an executive director; this job brought Mary so much joy in life as she had a special place in her heart for animals.  Mary's children adored her and will miss her dearly. Some of the fondest memories of their mother are how magical she made Christmas mornings during their childhood years, baking her delicious homemade breads and crafting incredible Halloween costumes. Mary always traveled to visit her children no matter how far away they moved from home. She was generous to a fault in making sure her family had everything they could ask for. 

She is survived by her four children, Cathy (Richard) Bills of Flushing, David Michael of Swartz Creek, Diane Jennings of Arkansas and Jane Germaine of Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Derek) Kuslansky, Brian (Samantha) Bills, Michael Jennings,  Timothy Jennings, Shannon (Jason) Dorsa, Wyatt Germaine and Cole (fiancée Emily) Germaine; seven great-grandchildren, Eddie Kuslansky, Marshall Kuslansky, Cooper Kuslansky, Kyleigh Bills, Camdyn Bills, Arthur Dorsa and Maverick Bills. She is further survived by her sister, Christine Ashe and many other dear family members. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alan; her siblings, Barbara LaFurgey and Douglas Ashe.
