Mary Bell HOUGHTALING

November 10, 1927 — June 15, 2011

HOUGHTALING, Mary Bell, age 83, of Burton, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Drake Wood Care Center, Waterford. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Pastor George Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Breast Cancer Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association. Mary was born November 10, 1927 in Henderson, MI the daughter of the late James and Esther (Whaley) Richards. She married Raymond Houghtaling in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1995. She was a 1945 graduate of Bendle High School and a life resident of the Burton area. Mary was employed by Woolco Department Store as a Personnel Manager which she enjoyed very much. She was a Boy and Girl Scout Leader, an avid bowler, loved canning, sewing, cross-stitch and hand-made most all of her Christmas gifts. Surviving are her 4 children, Barbara Duty (Bill Wood) of Houghton Lake, Gerald Houghtaling (Susan) of Flint, Mary Lou Houghtaling (Jerry Jones) of Orlando, FL, Nancy Hart of Burton; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Seeba of Belding, MI; sister-in-law Jan Richards of Grand Blanc. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Richard and David Houghtaling; grandson, Freddy Brown; sister, May June Shell; 2 brothers, Max and Jay Richards.
