Craig, Mary Joan - of Linden, Michigan passed away peacefully on March 23, 2018. Mary was born in Allendale, Illinois on November 2, 1932 to Nannie Beryl (Decker) and Ansyle Merle McGurck. On November 11, 1953 Mary married the love of her life Lawrence P. Craig of Lawrenceville, Illinois. Mary and Larry tried for years for a child and their prayers were answered after 13 years with a son, Lawrence Thomas Craig, on July 4, 1966. Lawrence T. Craig was killed by a drunk driver on December 25, 1995. In 1987 Mary graduated college at Olney Central College as a License Practical Nurse at the age of 55. Following the death of her son, Mary moved from Lawrenceville to Linden, Michigan to be close to her sister Barbara Jean, niece Kay, and nephew Kevin. Mary loved to watch movies and was an expert of all things related to movies. Mary will be interred in Sumner, Illinois next to her husband and son. Mary is survived by her Sister Barbara Jean Sarginson-DeMayer, niece Kay Jean (Kryder) Axel and her husband William John Axel II, nephew Kevin Bruce Kryder and his wife Valerie, great-niece Amber Jean (Kryder) Johnson and husband Erick, great-nephews Brenton Bruce McGurck Kryder and fiancé Rachel Ilene Erber, Kyle Andrew Clark Axel and great-great nephew Able Thomas Johnson. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence P. Craig, son Lawrence T. Craig, and her great-nephew William John Axel IV.
