Marvin Roland

ROLAND, Marvin James - Age 83, of Flint, died Wednesday May 15, 2019. Memorial visitation will be held 2PM-4PM Saturday, May 18 with a rosary being prayed at 4PM, at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2019 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G3139 Hogarth Avenue, Flint with Father Anthony Strouse officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service time at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church. Marvin was born August 19, 1935 in Caldwell County NC, the son of the late James S. and Florence H. (Jones) Roland. Mr. Roland married Janice Rhodes in Flint on October 19, 1957. Marvin enjoyed country music and building. He built his first home where he and Janice still resided today. Marvin loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He retired from General Motors Fisher Body I with 34 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 659 formerly UAW Local 581. Surviving are: wife of 61 years, Janice Roland; sons, Robert Roland, Kenneth Roland; David (Kim) Roland, Tom (Theresa) Roland all of Flint; grandchildren, Dan, Mike, Andrew, Jason, Trista, Tommy, Taylor, Tanner, Torianne; great grandchildren, Darius, Emma, Alexa, Sidney, Jaxson, Savannah, Evelyn and Reid. He is also survived by his sister Lillian Baker of NC; brother, Robert (Claradene) Roland of NC and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Virginia, Margaret, Joe, Ora, Jackie, Max, Mary, Arthur and Neil. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
