Marva J. VLASZ

VLASZ, Marva - Age 87, of Flint Twp., died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Homewood Village. Service will be held 11:30AM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Rev. Joy Fletcher officiating. Interment immediately following at Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Avalon Hospice. Marva was born October 10, 1921 in Flint, the daughter of Arthur and Maude (Shumway) Artibee. She married Alexander Vlasz in Flint on December 5, 1964. Mrs. Vlasz was a beautician and instructor at Mr. David's School in Flint and worked at home as a hairdresser. Surviving are: 4 sons, Robert (Ruth) DeMaria of Swartz Creek, John (Judy) DeMaria of South Haven, Anthony (Suzanne) DeMaria of Spanaway, WA, Richard (Nancy) DeMaria of Fletcher, OK; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Frank DeMaria in 1993; 2nd husband, Alexander Vlasz in 2001; daughter, JoAnn Smith in 2007; and 2 brothers, Ronald Artibee and Frederick Max Artibee. A very special thanks to the staff and caregivers at McLaren Homewood Village and the staff of Avalon Hospice for their outstanding support and care of Marva during her stay.
