ORT, Martin "Douglas" - age 58, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, August 5, 207 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St. Linden. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home where a Masonic Memorial Service will be held under the auspices of Linden Lodge #132 F & AM. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Brian's House Hospice. Martin was born July 1, 1949 in Battle Creek, the son of Vance and Beatrice (Beaver) Ort. He was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the U.S. Army. Martin was employed by General Motors and had also enjoyed farming, RV and car mechanic. He was a collector of guns and enjoyed motorcycles and cars. Martin was a member and Past Master of Linden Lodge # 132, F & AM, a lifetime member of Linden VFW and a member of the Linden Sportsman Club. Surviving are: wife, Gale; three children, Steve Ort, Ken Ort of Linden, Shelley (Steve) Wilson of Flushing; step-son, Edwin Redick, Jr. of Imlay City; grandson, Chase Ort; step-grandchildren, Erin and Josh Faley, Troy Wilson; siblings, Lloyd(Kathy) Ort of Bay City, Ellen (Dave) Pickett of Otsego, David Ort of Chicago, Tim (Sara) Ort of Hartford City, IN; dear friend and mother of his children, Helga Ort; many nieces and nephews.
