OCEDEK, Martin John - age 90, of Flint Township, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Nathan's Place. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, February 22, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Ave., Flint. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek where a rosary will be prayed 7 PM Sunday evening. Visitation will also be held 10 AM until the time of mass Monday at the church. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Pius X School, or an organization of one's choice. Martin was born in Morris, MI, March 31, 1919, the son of the late Martin John and Mary Rose (Pavlica) Ocedek. He proudly served his country in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. Martin retired from GM Fisher Body Plant I with 30 years of service in skilled trades as a tool and die maker. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fine woodworking, building two houses in his lifetime. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Frances (Brezina); daughter, Martha (Randy) Voto of Swartz Creek; son, Martin (Debbie) Ocedek of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Robert (Dena) Voto of Clarkston, Marsha (Tim) Kessler of Swartz Creek, Andrew (Brooke) Voto of Clarkston, Christopher (Jenny) Ocedek of Portage; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Benjamin, Margaret Kessler, Anna, Allison, Nicole Voto; brother, Frank Ocedek of Owosso; sister, Bessie Plulik of Owosso and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers and his grandson, Matthew Ocedek. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituary page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
