COLE, Martha Ann, age 86 of Swartz Creek, died Monday, October 5, 2009 at Hyde Park Assisted Living in Flushing. Mrs. Cole was born on November 23, 1922 the daughter of Evart and Marie (Hutchinson) Murdock. She was a lifelong resident of Clio and Swartz Creek and married Gerald Cole on April 18, 1942 in Flint. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2007. Mrs. Cole was employed at Flint Osteopathic Hospital as a LPN and retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. Surviving are her two sons: Gerald L. Cole, Jr. (Virginia) of Flint and Dennis Cole (Linda) of Swartz Creek; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren 2 brothers Robert Murdock of Cadillac and Evart Murdock of Novi; 2 sisters; Louise Johnston and Catherine Acne both of Flint and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cole was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Daniel, brother David and sisters, Virginia, June and Florence. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Sharp Funeral Home Miller Rd. Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek.and burial will follow in Bendle Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Cole's name may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
