Marlin Demps

DEMPS, Marlin N. (Morris) - Age 73, of Flint, died Saturday, May 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, June 8 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Visitation will be held 11 AM until the time of service. Marlin was born to Rev. Earl A. Morris Sr. and Kirklin L. Morris August 31, 1942, in Staten Island, NY. Her parents moved to Detroit where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Southwestern High School of Detroit. She then went on to attend and graduate from Detroit Bible College. Marlin married her husband, Theodore Demps, and went on to have five children, Mr. Michal Demps, Ms. Shawn Demps, Ms. T. Demps and husband Mr. Wayman Threlkeld, Ms. Sharon Demps, Ms. Stephanie Demps (Camara), Mr. Jodi Demps her special son; God-children, Mr. Chris Euwing and sister Jayna Euwing. She went on to attend Baker College of Flint where she earned a degree in Data Processing. She worked at Montgomery Wards department store and Detroit and Northern Bank. She loved and cherished her eight grandchildren, Ms. Crystal Demps, Mr. Ferraji Demps, Ms. Alexis Demps, Mr. Arquentez Demps of Florida, Mr. Chris (Coffman) Demps of Florida, Mr. Timoko Camera, Mr. George McQueen III and Mr. Deangelo Demps. Ms. Demps loved learning new things. She loved her church family where she was a Sunday school teacher as well as an instructor with the youth group and a member of the choir at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. She had a rich, full life where she enjoyed taking dance classes with her sisters in Christ. The family would like to give a special thanks to Gentiva Homecare and all the staff at Willowbrook Manor for the care and kindness that they showed her, as well as her doctors, Dr. Machado and Dr. Zaki. We wish to thank her special friends for the love and encouragement that was given to the family in their time of need, Sister and Brother Edwards, Mother Jackson, Mother Whittaker, Rev. Stewart, Barbara Beasly, Son in Christ Kenny Gillard, Brother Bob Patterson, Sister Jackie Williams, Sister Val Mills, and a host of relatives and friends. She is survived by her siblings, Kirkland Morris, Juliette Morris, Diane Baldwin, Lois Morris, Renee Morris and James Morris. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ms. Julia Foster; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl A. Morris; husband, Theodore Demps; daughter, Ms. Shawn Demps; brother, Mr. Earl A. Morris Jr.; God-daughter, Ms. Jayna Euwing. "Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God also believe in me. In my house are many mansions if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you. I will come again. And receive you unto myself, that where I am there ye may be also." St. John 14: 1-3
