O'BRIEN, Marjorie S. - age 76, of Ohio, formerly of Flint, died April 27, 2015. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, May 4, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Ave, Flint. Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek and from 10 AM until the time of Mass Monday at church. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the North End Soup Kitchen or St. Pius X Catholic School. Marjorie was born June 2, 1938 in Rogers City, the daughter of James Norman and Emily (Szala) McDonald. She married James P. O'Brien on December 31, 1960; he preceded her in death on January 7, 2002. She graduated from Rogers City High School and University of Michigan Ann Arbor. She was a teacher for many years. Marjorie was also a Girl Scout Leader for 10 years and a foster parent to 26 kids. Marjorie was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Altar Society, Embroiders Guild of America in two chapters - Creative Stichers and White Pine. She was also a member of American Needlepoint Guild and Needlepoint Guild of Michigan Chapter. Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Douglas) Sweet of London, Ohio, Terrie Stoddard and Joseph Luckhardt (significant other) of Flint; grandchildren, Matthew and Marina Sweet, Megan and Justin Stoddard; great-grandchildren, Reese and Logan Kawa; brothers, James (Jeanne) McDonald, Keith (Beverly) McDonald; brother-in-law, Thomas (Connie) O'Brien; sister-in-law, Barbara (Donald) Quick; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kelvin "Jack" McDonald; sister, Kathleen McDonald; father-in-law and mother-in-law; brother-in-law, Donald O'Brien.
