Marie Ann SHELBY

SHELBY, Marie Ann (Cienki) - Age 66, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at McLaren-Flint. Cremation has taken place and a private family Mass will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make contribution to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Marie was born February 11, 1946 in Flint, the daughter of Michael J. and Esther R. (Lengyel) Cienki. She was a 1964 graduate of Swartz Creek High School, then received Bachelors of Science from Mott Community College. She married Thomas M. Shelby November 9, 1968. She retired after 33 years of service from McLaren-Flint as an RN Surgical Nurse in the O.R.; she then worked for Vogt's Flowers. Marie loved to crochet and knit her scrubbies, washcloths and baby blankets. Surviving are: her husband of 43 years, Thomas, Sr; daughter, Amy Leon of Orlando, FL; son, Thomas M. Shelby, Jr. of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Vanessa Leon, Thomas III, Isabella and Helene Shelby and soon to be born Maelynn Shelby; brother, Michael A. and wife Loretta Cienki of Swartz Creek; sister, Alice M. Vasicek of Frankenmuth; Godson, Matthew D. Vasicek; several nieces, nephews, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
