MASSEY, Marie Irene -- Age 82, of Lennon, died September 16, 2009 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral Mass will be 11 AM Saturday, September 19 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek, Rev. Fr. Steven Mattson celebrant. Family and friends will gather at the church after 10 AM Saturday. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Thursday, 2-5 and 7-9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church or the charity of one's choice. Marie was born February 1, 1927 in Detroit the daughter of William and Irene (Gruber) Johnson. She was married to Howard Massey on July 23, 1949 in Detroit, and he preceded her in death March 9, 1990. She had resided in the Flint and Lennon area since 1954. She had been employed as a photo finisher and color lab technician for 24 years in Detroit and Flint retiring in 1973. Surviving are: beloved daughter Sherry and husband Thomas Sovia of Gaines; granddaughter Marcy and husband Todd Haggerty of Swartz Creek; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kory, and Ryan; dear sister, Gloria Johnson of Brighton; sister-in-law, Sister Mary Brigid SJE of St. Louis, MO; nephew Del Johnson; niece Diane and husband Bill Fleck and their daughter Dawn; Canadian relatives of London, Ontario, Canada; special neighbors and dear friends, Sister Rita McGovern SJE of St. Louis, MO, Pat and Al, Joan, Dennis and Maryann, and Val.
