Marie Rose DeHART

d. October 15, 2011

DeHART, Marie Rose, of Grand Blanc, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Grand Blanc Rehab and Nursing Care. Marie was born in Ambridge, PA, the daughter of the late John and Amelia (Lenhart) Ivanchan. In the early 1940's, she married Willis DeHart, with whom she had three beautiful children. As for many families of that era, General Motors brought the young couple to Michigan. In 1953 they settled in Grand Blanc on Schram Street, where many happy and comical memories were made. Marie always had a fun and carefree spirit that made the tough times bearable, and the good times laughable! She had an inner strength, fueled by her faith in God, and a gentle, empathetic nature, that made her a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marie lived in Florida for 12 years before coming back to Michigan in 1988, where she established herself as a member of the Grand Blanc community once again, and was welcomed into the Central Church of the Nazarene family. She surrounded herself with her children and grandchildren, and she made wonderful friends to last her the rest of her life. Helping people was in her nature, and she soon found her way into volunteering at Genesys hospital, manning the outpatient surgery desk on the 2nd floor, and as part of a visiting ministry to patients. Marie had an impact on many lives, and everyone she met was a friend. Marie was proud of her family, and embraced her Polish heritage, (even when it was the punch line of a joke!) She had a great sense of humor, and was rarely seen without a smile on her face. Becoming a great-grandmother was a highlight for Marie, and blessed are those four children who had her in their lives! Everyone that had the honor of knowing Marie will be celebrating her life today, and remembering her always, for that is the impact she left on us all. Marie's legacy lives on with her son, Ron DeHart of Seffner, FL; 2 daughters, Elaine Volker of Birch Run, Lyn Pruett of Grand Blanc; 3 grandchildren, Larry Bellinger of Burton, Payton Blackhurst (Matthew) of Grand Blanc, Seasen Pruett of Chicago; 4 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor, Holden, and Oliver; sister, Helen Perich of PA, 2 brothers, John Ivanchan (Joan) and Edward Ivanchan (Marge) both of PA; and sister-in-law, Helen Ivanchan of PA. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Ivanchan and son-in-law, Bill Pruett. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2:00pm, at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1261 W. Bristol Rd., Flint with Pastor David Hintz, officiating. The family will receive guests from 1:00pm until time of service. All are welcomed to celebrate Marie immediately following her service with dessert refreshments courtesy of Central Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, Marie's family asks that memorial donations be made to Genesys Hospice. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Grand Blanc Rehab and Nursing Care, as well as Genesys Hospice. For without them, Marie's transition from this earthly world to her long awaited and much anticipated "home" would have been a truly unbearable journey.
