Maria Vargas

Vargas, Maria Guadalupe -- Age 91 of Flint, Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great- Grandmother  passed away into eternal life with her family by her side on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at her residence. Maria was born May 2, 1930 in Maxwell, Texas, the daughter of the late Guadolupe and Candelaria (Ybarra) Lopez. She was the eldest daughter of 6 siblings. She married her first husband in 1952 the late Arturo Munoz (1978), and they moved to Flint Michigan in 1954 where they raised 6 children. She was a housewife and also worked as a cook for many years in various Mexican Restaurants in the Flint area. She married her second husband in 1983 the late Alfredo Vargas (2001). She was a very loving Mother and Grandmother who cared deeply for her family. She enjoyed, dancing, sewing, cooking, gardening, volunteering at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, traveling to visit family and spending time watching her Spanish novelas (soap operas). Surviving are her six children: Hortenzia Gaytan, Yolanda Munoz, Maria (Richard) Vargas, Rosa (Michael) Duran, Teresa Edwards, and Javier (Tina) Munoz; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ana Marie (Eduardo) Sanchez and Bertha Gomez; brother, Ernesto (Linda) Lopez; many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by: her first husband, Arturo Munoz in 1978 and her second husband, Alfredo Vargas in 2001, her son Arturo Munoz III, and her brothers Josie Lopez and Edmundo Lopez. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 Coldwater Rd, Flint, MI 48505. Visitation will take place from 10 AM - 11 AM Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the church.
