Marguerite Burt, age 86, of Swartz Creek, passed away on July 30, 2023 with family by her side. Born on March 1, 1937, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Marguerite was the daughter of John and Ruth (Harrison) Dallas. She married the love of her life, Albert "Buddy" Burt, on October 29, 1954.
Marguerite was a woman of unwavering faith and was known for her incredible devotion as a minister's wife to Pastor Buddy Burt. Together, they served their community for an impressive 36 years as a dynamic ministry team. Marguerite's love and support were instrumental in their shared dedication to helping others.
Marguerite was not only committed to her role within the ministry but also demonstrated extraordinary strength and resilience in her personal endeavors. She worked tirelessly at Sears until the age of 75, demonstrating her strong work ethic and dedication.
The impact Marguerite made on the lives she touched extends far beyond her professional accomplishments. Above all else, Marguerite cherished her role as a devoted wife to Buddy and as a loving mother to their three children: John (Carol) Burt of Plantersville, MS; David (Diane) Burt of Gaines, MI; and Maria (Jerry) Crane of Midland, MI.
Marguerite's love knew no limits when it came to her family. Spending time with her grandchildren and watching them participate in various athletics brought immeasurable joy to her life. She leaves behind eight beloved grandchildren: Jonathan, Jason, Justin, Sara, Charlie, Christine, Brandon, and Adam. Additionally, Marguerite delighted in the presence of fourteen great-grandchildren who brought undeniable happiness to her golden years.
Throughout her life, Marguerite was known for her kind-hearted nature and unconditional acceptance of all people. She possessed the remarkable ability to say something kind to everyone she encountered, displaying compassion and understanding in every interaction.
Marguerite's memory will forever be treasured by her surviving family members: her three sisters, Carolyn Evans, Betty Jo (Jarvis) Poche, and MaryNell Goudeau; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Albert "Buddy" Burt; two brothers, Raymond Dallas and Cooper Dallas; and sister Marvene Dearman.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to those who provided exceptional care for Marguerite during her final days: Carol Hartwell for her Tuesday visits; Dr. Brian Bhagat; McLaren Neuro ICU; and the Hospice House of Shiawassee County. The love and support shown by her church family at New Haven Baptist Church have been a source of great comfort during this difficult time.
A funeral service celebrating Marguerite's life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Reverend Larry Rednower will officiate the ceremony. Following the service, Marguerite will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Wednesday and 10 AM - 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marguerite's name to either the Hospice House of Shiawassee County or Carriage Town Ministries.
