It is with the deepest sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Margaret M. "Peggy" Wittbrodt, age 70 of Fenton, who passed away peacefully at home on September 1st, 2024 , after a courageous 15-year battle with breast cancer. Born in Flint Michigan, on May 22, 1954, Peggy grew up in Swartz Creek, where she was known for her boundless energy, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
Peggy's life was a testament to her bravery and selflessness. As a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, she embraced her roles with a love that knew no bounds. Her family was her greatest joy, and she faced each challenge with a strength that inspired all who knew her. Peggy’s dedication to her family was matched only by her commitment to her community.
For 40 years, Peggy owned and operated a successful daycare center, Honey Bear Child Care, where her nurturing presence touched the lives of countless children and families. Her impact on her community extended beyond the walls of her daycare, as she was a cherished mentor and friend to many. Her legacy of love and dedication will continue to resonate in the lives of those she has influenced. In her younger years, Peggy’s passion for horses was evident as she showed and trained them with exceptional skill and enthusiasm. Her love for horses was a reflection of her adventurous spirit and her desire to connect with the world around her.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Tom Smith and two children Zack (Kasey) Wittbrodt and Shana (Zach) Carter; three grandchildren, Kendall Carter (11), Cashton Carter (9) and Winnie Wittbrodt (2); 4 surviving siblings, Ann (Dave) Harris, Jeanette (Nick) Chiros, Tom (Jan) Talt, and Matt (Ming) Talt; many nieces, nephews and an extended family of relations and friends. Peggy was proceeded in death by her parents, Matthew and Susanne (O'Sullivan) Talt and sister Kathleen Talt.
Peggy's spirit will forever remain a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for the indelible mark she left on our hearts and lives. In accordance with Peggy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held from 12 PM - 4 PM Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Fenton Township Hall located at 12060 Mantawauka Drive, Fenton, Michigan 48430.
