GROSS, Margaret Lois "Mickey" - Age 76, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at University of Michigan Hospitals, Ann Arbor. Funeral service will be held 1PM Monday, August 24, 2009 at the United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek, Pastor J.D. Landis officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 and 5-8PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and at the church on Monday from 11:30AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Swartz Creek United Methodist Church or Durand Church of the Nazarene. Mickey was born on July 29, 1933 in Fairgrove, MI, the daughter of the late William and Clara (McCreedy) Cartwright. She married Burton Arthur Gross in Fairgrove on December 3, 1955. Mrs. Gross retired from Bell Telephone Company as an engineer after 31 years of service. Mickey enjoyed collecting antiques and spending time with her granddaughters. She owned and operated Itchi-Bon Uptown Bakery in Durand for the past 20 years and was a member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church since 1964. Surviving are: husband, Burt of Swartz Creek; son, Barry (Christy) Gross of Durand; granddaughters, Harper and Carly; sisters, Jeanette (Marlyn) Staschke of Detroit, Marian (Russ) Jones of Dearborn, Dianne (Theron) Middaugh of Cass City, Elizabeth (Norm) Nickel of Reese; brothers, William Cartwright of Caro, Dennis (Mary Ann) Cartwright of Caro, Daniel (Marlene) Cartwright of Hartland; many nieces and nephews.
