CHILDERS, Margaret Evelyn, age 86 of Grand Blanc, went to be with the Lord on March 16, 2024. A Celebration of Margaret's Life will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Pastor Joel Stiff will be officiating. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Margaret to the Lighthouse Baptist Church (5458 Fenton Road, Flint, Michigan 48507).
Margaret was born on January 26,1938 in Lepanto, Arkansas to the late Lawrence E. and Isobelle (Burrows) Osmon. She was an active member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church, and prior to that of Cornerstone Baptist Church, and Missionary Baptist Church. Margaret was known for making baby quilts for church members, and singing in the choir with her brother Sonny, and gospel quartets. Margaret was very social. She enjoyed talking with anyone that would listen, and always had an open chair at her table offering food or drink to all who entered. She enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, gardening, and canning. Margaret was a very proud Nana to not just her own grandchildren, but also many in the neighborhood and from church who knew her only as Nana. Her children cherish the early memories of singing country and gospel songs at home while she played the guitar.
She is survived by her children; John “LaWayne” (Lorena "Kay") Welch of Burton, Charlotte (Philip) Cooper of Grand Blanc, Joan Welch of Grand Blanc, Cyndi Welch of Grand Blanc, Lorie Welch of Nehalem, OR and their father, John Welch.
Grandchildren; John (Melissa) Welch II, Candace (Cody) Duggan, Brandy Welch, Michael (Nicole) Watkins, Barbara (Anthony) Crump, Nicole Cooper, Curtis Giordano, Joseph Giordano.
Great-grandchildren; Ella Baum, Elisha Welch, Jesse Vanderpool, Autumn Vanderpool, Kaleb Welch, Oliver Welch, Olivia Powell, and Harper Watkins.
Step-children; Brook, Terry, and Cindy Childers. Step-grandchildren; Peggy, Amanda, Brook Jr and step great-grandchildren Megan, Jordan and Lucas.
Many dearly loved nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law.
Mrs. Childers was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years; William. Grandson; Edward Secord. Great-grandson; Benjamin Duggan. Siblings; Sonny, Betty, Harold, David, and Laura.
