CARTER, Margaret Cora - Age 106, of Grand Blanc, passed away March 14, 2023 in her home, surrounded by loved ones. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Margaret was born October 7, 1916 in Flint, the daughter of Melvin and Emma Shetler. During the Great Depression, she quit school to become a cosmetologist. Margaret married Louis J. Carter Jr (Cy) on September 7, 1940. At age 50 she earned her high school diploma and went on to college. Margaret had worked for Shetler Pump and General Motors. She was also a realtor, had rental properties and was a landlord most of her life. She loved to travel with her daughter-in-law, Lyn Ward and they saw many countries together. Margaret was fiercely loyal; her glass was always "half full" and she had the gift of seeing the good in everyone. She is survived by her sons, Randy (Karen) Carter and Joe (Erin) Carter; grandchildren, Renee (David) Ellis, Suzette (Jalyn) Carter, Ava Carter, Erin Milner, Ian White, Kaitlin White and Gabriel White; great-grandchildren, Takao Williamson, Elijah Carter, Adonis Payne, Stephanie Ellis and Megan Ellis; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis J. Carter Jr.; brothers, Eddie (Zelma), Chuck (Gracie), Frank (Doris) and Earl (Shirley); daughter, Linda (Richard) Von Gerkan; great-grandson, Kayden Worden.
