KNACK, Marjorie H., died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Genesys Health Park. Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 609 Fifth St., Flint. Rev. Santhiyagu Arockiyasamy celebrant. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Genesee County Humane Society or C.A.R.E. (Citizen's Animal Rescue Organization). Marjorie was born in Flint to the late Anthony and Mabel Knack, she had one brother, Donald, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who preceded her in death. Marjorie earned her Bachelor's Degree from Central Michigan University and her Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. In 1950, Marjorie's adventurous spirit led her to a teaching position at the Army Military School in Tokyo, Japan for one year. After a brief time back in the United States, she again left home to teach in Nancy, France at an Air Force Military School for 3 years. While in Europe, she traveled quite extensively. Marjorie taught in the Flint schools from 1955 until her retirement in June 1986. Most of her career was spent as an English teacher and counselor at Whittier Junior High. After retiring, she continued her traveling ways with trips to China, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Northwest. She also made yearly trips to see Shakespeare plays in Stratford, Ontario. Marjorie was always a positive person. She never complained, even after losing a leg to cancer, she enjoyed her computer, visiting with her many friends, entertaining, reading and politics. Marjorie is survived by her beloved cousin, Kathleen (Raul) Ochoa; her Whittier Family; and many additional loving family and friends; and her beloved dog, Lucy.
