VOLLER, Mabel Irene - age 92, of Fenton, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Sunday, November 30, 2008. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Rev. Ward N. Sipes officiating. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held from 3-9 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Covenant Hills Campground in Otisville. Mrs. Voller was born January 10, 1916 in Cadillac, MI, the daughter of Benjamin and Bertha (Sager) Hicks. She was a graduate of Spring Arbor High School, attended Spring Arbor Junior College and graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor in Teaching. She married Merlyn W. Voller on August 29, 1936. Mrs. Voller spent her career teaching in the Beecher School System as an elementary teacher. She had lived in Mt. Morris for 34 years and Alpena for 30 years, most recently residing in Fenton and wintering in Florida at the Light & Life Free Methodist Park. She was a member of Fairhaven Free Methodist Church (Flushing Free Methodist Church) where she was the director of music, church organist and pianist and a special singer. Surviving are: husband, Merlyn; four children, Mary Lee and husband, Duane Cain of Alpena, Diane and husband, Jim Nowlin of Woodland Park, CO, Douglas Voller and wife, Ruth of TX, Vickie and husband, Paul Banks of Linden; 10 grandchildren, Cheri, Craig, Greg, Scott, Kristin, Kirk, Jeff, Kameron, Chad and Benjamin; 24 great-grandchildren and two to be born soon; sister, Velma and husband, Don Burt of Lansing; sister-in-law, Bethavery Voller of Spring arbor; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
