M. Caroline "Carol" Wamsley

April 25, 1920 — January 26, 2008

WAMSLEY, M. Caroline, "Carol", age 87, of Flint, died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth St., Flint. Fr. Robert F. Copeland celebrant. The family will receive friends 10AM Wednesday until time of Mass at church. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be Monday 5-8PM and Tuesday 2-8PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. A rosary will be recited 7PM Tuesday, followed by a Carmelite Prayer Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Carol was born April 25, 1920 in Liverpool, England the daughter of Walter R. and Catherine (Jones) Colwill. She married Charles "Cliff" Wamsley on July 6, 1946 in Flint and she was among the first WWII war brides to come from England. Carol was employed by McLaren Regional Medical Center as a receptionist for 20 years until her retirement in 1992. She then volunteered with McLaren Auxiliary for 5 more years and served as a member of the Bio-Ethics Committee. Carol was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, was involved in the Stephen Ministry and a member of the Secular Carmelite Community. She loved ballroom dancing and would dance anywhere, anytime. Carol loved to whistle, was an avid reader and took pleasure in knitting for others. She was always dressed to a "T"! She was a loving, devoted mother who will be cherished forever. Surviving are her 5 daughters, Darlene Roether (David) of Grand Blanc, Carol Ann Hunt (Dick) of Swartz Creek, Joanne Boyer of Seattle, WA, Cynthia Wamsley of Flint, Lisa Wamsley (Mark Thompson) of Traverse City; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Walter Colwill of Wigan, England; 3 sisters, Daisy Savage of Romford, England, Gladys Waters and  Eileen Hawkins both of Reading, England. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff in 1971; sister, Flora Quinn; 2 half-brothers, Raymond and John Provost and granddaughter Jennifer Hunt in 1993. The family extends special thanks to the staff of Visiting Nurses and McLaren Regional Medical Center for the loving care they all provided, especially Dr. Hak- "He's a good lad".  Online condolences and tributes may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
