Lynn was born on December 19, 1934, in Millington, Michigan to the late Archibald & Edna Carnes. He graduated from Holly High School in 1953. While in high school he met the love of his life, Georgia Holzmann, they got married at the Methodist Church in Holly on October 6, 1956. Lynn was employed at Excel Corporation as a machinist and assembly floor supervisor for thirty-two years when he retired in 2000. Lynn and Georgia are members of Fenton United Methodist Church where Lynn was active as an usher and member of the Men's Club. He was extremely proud of the Men's Club at Fenton United Methodist Church and the Outreach Group that built Mobility Carts for handicapped people in third world countries.

During his 23 years of retirement Lynn kept busy working in his workshop on many projects. He was a gifted "wood craftsmen" and was able to make or fix just about anything. He built wooden toys, garden art, flag cases, birdhouses and repaired furniture. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons on the family land up north, and camping with family and friends. Lynn kept many vegetable gardens throughout the years, and Georgia canned. Above all, Lynn's fondest memories were those spent with his family. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and made an appearance to as many school events as he could.  He also loved golf; he founded the Excel Golf League in 1972, which is still active at Tyrone Hills.

Lynn is survived by his wife of 67 years of marriage, Georgia; his three children, Greg (Suze) Carnes, Kelli (Doug) Gregory and Brad (Erin) Carnes; nine grandchildren, Lindsey (Joe) Leblanc, Whitney Fornari, Amanda (Chad) Montgomery, Britney (Ryan) Mandel, Katelynn (Matt) Bazen, Travis Campbell, Nolan Carnes,  Hannah (Chavy) Espinoza and Olivia Carnes; eight great-grandchildren, Evelynn Bazen, Lillian Mandel, Ellis Bazen, Oliver Bazen, Salvador Espinoza, Margot Leblanc, Madeleine Mandel and Anders Bazen; his siblings, Richard (Gina) Carnes and Shirley Doughtery and son-in-law, Dave Campbell. Lynn is further survived by many other nieces, nephews and other dear family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Archibald (Edna) Carnes; Lynn was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Campbell.
