DRYDEN, Lydia Anne (Kilbourne) - age 82, of Hartland, died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, November 19, 2015 at WellBridge of Brighton. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2099 N. Hacker Rd., Howell with Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Sunday and Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a brief scripture service will be held at 7 PM Monday. Visitation will also be held 10 AM - 11 AM Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cromaine Library of Hartland - Large Print Collection. Mrs. Dryden was born February 10, 1933 in Flint, the daughter of Edward Conlen and Orma Alice (Kelley) Kilbourne. She married James Ralph Dryden on November 12, 1955. Mrs. Dryden dedicated her life to helping and caring for others. She received a bachelor degree in Psychology and a master degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan (Flint). She tutored at Mott Community College and was a social worker for LACASA Center, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, where she retired as the Executive Director in 1993. After retiring she volunteered at the Pregnancy Hot Line, was a member of the Hartland Women's Club and taught Active Parenting classes at St. John's Parish. She and Jim have been members of the parish since 1986. Surviving are: husband of 60 years, James; six children, Michael Dryden of Brighton, Catherine Dryden (Gerald Brouillette) of Albany, NY, Mary Dryden-Fakir (William El-Fakir) of Bellbrook, OH, Susan Dryden-Hogan of Hartland, Nancy (Carl) Tatsuguchi of Grayslake, IL, Linda (Scott) Schell of East Bethel, MN; 14 grandchildren, Michael Jay, David (Katie), Amber (Alan), Sarah, Jessica, James, William, Daniel, Margaret, Christopher, Catherine, Nicole, Marie, and Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; and four siblings, Orma, Edward, James and Jerry. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituary page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
