SHIPLETT, Luella M. (Carnes) Â Age 72, passed away on September 24, 2004 at Genesys Health Park. Luella was born on March 30, 1932 in Flint, MI to Elmer and Leslie Carnes. She graduated in 1950 from Linden High School and was a legal secretary for many years. She also worked for TransAmerica and CNA Insurance Companies, retiring in 1994. Luella married Byron Hillier on October 1, 1953. They had two daughters, Pamela and Kimberley. Byron passed away on May 2, 1968. She then married Charles H. Shiplett on October 19, 1971. Luella was a member of the Argentine Church of the Nazarene. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at the Argentine Church of the Nazarene, 16248 S. Seymour Rd. in Argentine with Rev. Gerald A. Carnes officiating. Cremation has taken place. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Argentine Church of the Nazarene. She was a resident of the Linden/Argentine area since 1947 moving here from Grand Blanc. Surviving are; husband, Charles Shiplett; 2 daughters, Pamela and Kimberly Hillier of Lansing; 7 sisters, Ellen Morris of Linden, Elaine Misener of Punta Gorda, FL, Dorothy Alward of Fostoria, Ruth Steiner, Maxine Miller, Sharon Evans, all of Linden, Rena Dake of Byron; 2 brothers, James Carnes of Grove, OK, Rev. Gerald Carnes of Aurora, IL. She was preceded in death by: husband, Byron; parents; 2 brothers, Joey and Arnold; step-daughter, Marilyn Hillier, constant companion, Pepper.
