Lucille "Lucy" Joys

Lucille "Lucy" Joys (Hetzel) of Swartz Creek passed away on August 22, 2022 at the age of 69. She was born at St. Joseph's Hospital of Flint on May 23, 1953.

Lucy attended school at St. Mary Queen of Angels and was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School. For 43 years she was a nurse at Hurley Hospital including 16 years on the burn unit. She was very dedicated and proud of her work.

On May 15th, 1974 she married Byron Joys. Together they raised three sons. Lucy loved a good book and going to the library. Summers were spent working in the garden and on flower beds, being with family, or at a good rummage sale.

She will be missed by her husband Byron. Sons Erik (Jessica), Nick, and Aaron. Granddaughters Caitlyn and Lillian. Brothers and sisters Fredrick "Fritz" Hetzel (Mary), Elizabeth "Betty" Smith (Bruce), Mary Hetzel, and John Hetzel. Along with many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

Passed on before her are her parents Fredrick "Fred" and Joan Hetzel. Sister Carolyn Parsell. Brothers Robert "Bob" Hetzel and William "Bill" Hetzel.

A celebration of life will be announced to family and friends at a later date.
