SMITH, LuAnn (Krepel) -- Age 48, of East Lansing, formerly of Durand, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 26, 2004 at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Swartz Creek. Fr. Amos Wischmeyer Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Sunday and 2-5 & 7-9 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, with a Rosary at 4 PM Monday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the LuAnn Smith Memorial Fund for her sons. Mrs. Smith was born in Durand, MI, December 28, 1955, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Krepel. She was a graduate of Durand Area High School and received her Bachelor's of Science in Dietetics from Michigan State University in 1979. On July 7, 1979, she married Michael J. Smith of Lansing. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and a member of the church choir. Mrs. Smith worked at Ingham Regional Medical Center Care Facility for 27 years and was an administrative assistant in C.P.D. She also worked at Lansing Surgery Center in C.P.D. and Genesis Surgery Center. Mrs. Smith was the current president of the Mid Michigan Central Services. She previously served as vice-president and secretary of that association. She was also a member of the Michigan Society for Healthcare Professionals. Surviving are: husband, Michael; sons, Andrew and Patrick Smith of East Lansing; sisters, Bernadine and Linda; brother, Joseph Krepel of South Florida; father, Jospeh R. Krepel of Durand. She was predeceased by her infant son, Jeremy and mother Mary Krepel.
