SHAMEL, Lowell Clark 'Don' - age 97, of Linden and Holiday, FL, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at his residence surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held 10 AM until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice. Mr. Shamel was born May 26, 1911 in Gladwin, the son of Wallace Clark and Fannie (Webb) Shamel. He married Gladys Baker and she preceded him in death on September 11, 1996. Mr. Shamel retired from AC Spark Plug in 1970 after 43 years of service. He owned and operated Hide Away Park Campground in Linden since 1955. Mr. Shamel was a member of the Argentine Church of the Nazarene and Assembly of God church in Florida. Left to cherish his memory are: grandson, Chuck Petrie and wife, Lynnie of Linden; two great-grandsons, Eric Petrie of Fowlerville and Jason Petrie of Linden; sister, Ruth Potter of Davison. He was also preceded in death by: his daughter, Mabel; four brothers and one sister. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shawn and Amy from Heartland Hospice, Steve and Kim, Dan and Billie, Mary and Tom and Anne.
