Lorraine E. Stone

STONE - Lorraine E., age 89 of Durand, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on May 22, 2024. Her funeral will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Michigan. Private burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens will take place on Friday, May 31, 2024. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2024 and on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lorraine to American Cancer Society (www.donate.cancer.org) or Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org). 

Lorraine was born on November 15, 1934 in Shepherd, Michigan to the late Thomas Henry and Ida Bell (Brooks) Steel. She graduated from Beecher High School and married Harold W. Stone on May 30, 1953 in Flint, Michigan. Lorraine enjoyed bowling, karaoke and was a member of the Durand Eagles #3851, Harrison Moose Lodge #1804 and the UAW OEIU-AFL-CIO #494. She worked as the secretary for Regional Development Group for 33 years before retiring in 2001 in addition to serving 30 years as the Chairperson for the Sam Duncan Memorial Scholarship Fund, as well as for the UAW 1-C Bowling Tournament.

Surviving are her children, Diane (Daniel) Money of Mayville; Daniel (Susie) Stone of Durand; Carolyn (Leonard) Dora of Harrison; Debbie Armbrustmacher of Fowler. Sister, Rosella Gee of Silver Springs, FL. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; brother, Stan; sister, Joy; grandchildren, Ami Renshaw & Amanda Thompson; son-in-law, Dale Armbrustmacher.
