DAUWE, Sr. Loretta Jean - age 61, of Flint, MI passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at her residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30AM Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Salem Heights Convent, 4960 Salem Ave, Dayton, Ohio. Interment in Salem Heights Convent Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-7PM at the Convent. Loretta was born November 9, 1946 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Clarence and Jane (Jutzie) Dauwe. She received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Dayton, a Masters of Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and her Ph.D. from Purdue University. She entered the Congregation of Sisters of Precious Blood on January 6, 1964. Loretta was a Professor of Physics at the University of Michigan - Flint since 1985, where she also served as the Chair of the Computer Science, Engineering Science and Physics Department. She has also performed research at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. Surviving are: brother, Daniel Dauwe of Monument, CO; sister, Joyce Anderson and husband, David, of Strongsville, OH; nieces and nephews, Daniel, Jr. and Claire Dauwe, Katie and Thomas Anderson. She was preceded in death by: her parents and sister, Karen Dauwe. Friends may share an online tribute on the obituary page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
