Lois Jean SMITH

SMITH, Lois Jean (Summers), age 77, of Grand Blanc, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 13, 2010. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 18, 2010 at Great Lakes Baptist Temple, 2112 E. Maple Rd., Flint. Pastor David Chittenden officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the Great Lakes Baptist Temple. Lois was born February 6, 1933 in Cabell County, West Virginia the daughter of the late Herman and Edith (Coleman) Summers. She received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1950 and was baptized on Palm Sunday of that year. Lois graduated in 1951 from Campbell Memorial High School, Campbell, OH and was employed with Ohio Bell Telephone in Columbus for 18 years. She married Richard Lind Smith on September 18, 1971 at the Columbus Baptist Temple, Columbus, Ohio. Lois was a member of Great Lakes Baptist Temple where she was very active as a Sunday School teacher, class secretary and sang in Ladies Ensemble and choir. Lois was an avid supporter of Michigan State University and West Virginia University. She attended most MSU home football games for 38 years. She also enjoyed travel, shopping and fellowshipping with her family and friends. Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Richard; two sisters, Betty Fritchen of Columbus, OH, Edith Luptak (Dave) of Newcastle, PA; brother, Herman Summers (Anna) of Rankin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
