Lois Murphy

MURPHY, Lois Lorraine - Age 93, of Fenton, died Friday, December 6, 2019 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Visitation will be from 3:30-5pm Friday, December 20, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, followed by services from 5 to 6pm. Pastor Michelle Forsyth will lead the service. Interment will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Lois was born the 3rd of 9 children on January 7, 1926 in Deer River, MN, the daughter of Patrick and Mary (Moulton) Meyers. She married Earl F. Murphy on March 8, 1945. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2010. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Together she and Earl had four children, Steven (Patricia) Murphy, Laurel (Dan) Gleason, and Gary (Ireen) Murphy, and David (Denise) Murphy who preceded her in death in December 2002. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Jeff (Amy) Murphy, Loe'l (Zack) Shinabarger, Joshua and Jeremiah Gleason, Jordan and Vanessa Murphy; after waiting many years, she was blessed with two great Grandchildren, Alicia and Eli Shinabarger.

After raising their children, she went to college and earned her Registered Nursing Degree and worked for McLaren Hospital for many years. When she & Earl retired, they moved from Fenton to Lake Havasu City, AZ. First as snowbirds and then as permanent residents. Together they shared many happy memories of touring the deserts with their friends in their four-wheel vehicles, visiting various casinos, traveling with their grand children and enjoying the Arizona sunsets. After Earl passed away, she moved back to Fenton where she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
