Lisa was born to Dorothy and Richard Mienkwic on December 5, 1964 in Flint, Michigan. She was one of five sisters, all who she loved very much. At a young age Lisa gave birth to her first child, Nicholas Eric Looney and he changed everything for her. He taught not only her, but her family and friends the true meaning of unconditional love. While, she knew motherhood as a teenager wouldn’t be easy, she wouldn’t have had it any other way and she knew she had her mom and sisters there to support her. Lisa went on to graduate from Bendle High School and take classes at Mott Community College. It didn’t take long until she found her path in life, and that was helping others. She spent years working with individuals with disabilities, helping them with daily living skills, setting goals and most importantly treating them with the dignity and respect they deserved. In 1990, she gave birth to her daughter, Justine Denae Bond and in that moment, her family was complete. Lisa was a wonderful, hard working and loving mother. She created a life for her kids that she was proud of. She was the type of mom who decorated for every holiday, made homemade birthday cakes and wrote riddles on Christmas gift tags. She raised her children to be kind hearted individuals and to take pride in their work. Over the years Lisa taught her family what true strength and resilience looked like. Life was not always easy or kind to her, but she never gave up. She continued to show love to those around her even in times of trials and tribulations. Many would describe Lisa as strong and independent, but if you had the honor of truly knowing her you got to see her humor and wit as well. You could always count on her for a one-liner and a giggle. A giggle that will forever be ingrained in the heads and hearts of those who loved her most. It’s important to note that Lisa’s compassion extended beyond her family and those she worked with. She loved animals and wildlife. All animals held a special place with her and were drawn to her kindness. The last year of her life brought difficult health issues, but she wasn’t willing to give up… sadly, her body was too tired.
Lisa is survived by her mother, Dorothy Mienkwic, her children, Nick (Katy) Looney, Justine Bond (Dan Law), her grandchildren, Arieonna, Grayce and Amelia Looney, her sisters, Daria (Dave) Norris, Michele Griswold, Julie (Bill) Mienkwic and Christine (Guy) Smith, along with many close nieces, nephews and friends. She would also want her grand-pups Cache, Buster and Zola listed, as she truly treasured them. While she will be deeply missed, her family gains comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her father, Richard Mienkwic, her dear niece, Hayley Bemiss, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many special pets.
