BROWN, Linda Kay - Age 77, of Swartz Creek, passed away May 1, 2022. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Wednesday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. Linda was born September 18, 1944 in Arkansas and moved to Flint with her family as a young child. She graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1962. She met and married Allen Brown in 1967; they had two daughters, Kristee and Allison. After traveling to Europe with her husband during his time of service, they returned and settled back home in Flint.
Linda was the backbone of her family. She was the perfect example of what a wife, mother, grandmother and friend should be. As an executive secretary, nothing drove her crazier than bad grammar and was quick to correct any wrongdoings on any type of written materials. She was highly motivated and believed you got up and got moving everyday, whether you had plans or not. She expressed this when her daughters would want to sleep in or Allen would stay in his robe, reading for the day. Linda had a way of making every birthday and holiday special with heartfelt traditions. There was never a holiday that would pass without her sending a card (she single handedly kept Hallmark in business). Following retirement, she discovered a love for casinos. She and Allen traveled the country finding the hottest slot machines around, whether they were video poker or penny slots, she loved to play.
Her grandkids and grand dogs were the ultimate joy in her life. Her eyes would light up at the sight of them and her giddiness to be with them was contagious. She loved to hear about the stories of her grandsons catching snakes and frogs even though she didn't like the creatures. She adored their proud smiles and stories they shared.
She is survived by her husband, Allen; daughters, Kristee (Laik) Mahler and Allison (Bob) Pelton; grandsons, Walker, Reid and Bishop Pelton; brother, Charles (Mary Ann) Robert. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Etta Mae (Lingo) Robert. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
