Lewis Brookshire

BROOKSHIRE, Lewis "Rex" -- Age 70, of Swartz Creek, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family April 24, 2018. A luncheon will be held 1 PM Sunday, April 29 at Brick Street Grill, 1223 E. Grand Blanc Rd., Grand Blanc. Those desiring may make contributions to Shriners Hospitals for Children. Arrangements are being handled by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Rex was born July 24, 1947, in Flint, Michigan the son of the late Raiford "Casey" and Letha Brookshire. He graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1965, followed by 36 years of service at Buick Motor Division. In 1967 he married his high school sweetheart Joann (Overman) and they had 50 wonderful years together. From this marriage, they had 2 sons David and Gary that always made him happy and proud. Rex was blessed with 2 wonderful grandchildren, Ethan David, Gabby Sara, the loves of his life. Rex was a past master of Birch Run Masonic Lodge; he enjoyed his commitment to the Masons and was a Shriner. Second only to his love of his family was his passion for Indy Car Racing. With his racing buddies, Lance Brookshire, Phil Wyles and Mike Finch, Rex had some of his happiest times and memories. He is survived by wife, Joann; sons, David Rex (Paola) of Arizona, Gary; grandchildren, Ethan David and Gabriela Sara; brother, Lance (Judy) Brookshire and several nieces and nephews.
