Leroy "Buddy" Wheaton

WHEATON, Leroy "Buddy" - Age 89, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, September 30, 2021.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (A live stream of the service will be available on Leroy's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com).  Pastor Aaron Whitman officiating.  Burial 12:30 Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.  Visitation will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 at the funeral home from 4-8 PM.  In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the family.

Leroy was born July 14, 1932 in Pitts, AR, the son of Charles Leo and Sadie Lou (Hanson) Wheaton.  He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.  He married Pauline Talley July 30, 1955 in Jonesboro, AR.  He had resided in Swartz Creek since 1966 coming from Jonesboro, AR.  Leroy retired from GM Truck and Bus as a Air Condition Repairman after 36 years of service.  He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and the U.A.W. Local 598.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Pauline; son, Jimmy (Robin) Wheaton of Quincey; daughter, Nina (Rick) Benner of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Brent (Maria) Benner of Texas, Jeannette Benner of Grand Rapids, and Josh Benner of Indiana; great grandson, Dylan; and several nieces and nephews.
