Leota Witter

WITTER, Leota Corrine (Shaffer)- Age 96, of Swartz Creek, died November 14, 2016. A memorial service will be held 12 PM Saturday November 26 at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place 11 AM until the time of service. Leota was born July 31, 1920 in Lucas, OH, the daughter of Bryce and Mary (Nichols) Schaffer. She served her country by serving time in the Army in World War II. She met her husband, William Witter at the Triangle Inn in Flint while working. When they met William had just gotten out of the Army. William and Leota got married in Flint on March 21, 1946, he preceded her in death in March 1995. Together they had three children and raised them in the north end of Flint. She worked for the Flint Board of Education in the food service department at Emerson Jr. High School, Northwestern High School, and Sarvis Food Center. She loved her work because of the students. After retiring, William and Leota moved to Mt. Morris. Leota loved her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, birthdays, cooking, and taking long walks. She is survived by her son, David and wife, (Maryann Charron) Witter of Swartz Creek, daughters, Carla L. Tefft of Daytona Beach, FL., Pia (Robert) Krupa of Flint Township; grandchildren, Sara Witter of Swartz Creek, Elizabeth Witter of Kanab, Utah, Gina Shippritt of Flint, Dominic Tefft of Davison, Kelly (Ryan) Schultz (Krupa) of Grand Blanc; great grandchildren Chase Witter-Hatchett, Anna Miller, Devan Miller, Stephen Shippritt, Brevik Barret and Hunter Krupa. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Christopher Krupa; brothers, Virgil, Roy, Charles, and Homer Shaffer; sisters, Florence Cox-Talon, and Nina Pace.
