CARPENTER,  Leona A., age 92 of Flint, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Fostrian Manor in Flushing.  Mrs. Carpenter was born in Flint on September 7, 1914 the daughter of Charles and Mary (Shaver) Castle.  She has been a Flint area resident all her lifetime and graduated from Flint Northern High School. She and Robert Carpenter were married  in 1934 and he preceded her in death in June of 1992. Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker,a loyal Detroit Tiger fan, a former volunteer at Hurley Medical Center, and was in the Neighborhood Watch Patrol for 3 years and a past member of the Rebekah Lodge.   Surviving are her 4 children;  Sally A. (Thomas) Royal of Flint,Mary Elizabeth Carpenter of Burton, Richard R. (Candy) Carpenter of Elberta, MI and John M. Carpenter of Flint. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mary Jane Traywick and a brother, Jack (Kathy) Castle, sister-in-law, Gladys Castle and many nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Carpenter was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Joanne Carpenter and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be  11:00 A.M. Monday, April 2, 2007 at the Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. with Rev. Grant Wessel officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 9 P.M. Sunday. Mrs. Carpenter's family deeply appreciates the care and kindness of the staff of Fostrian Manor, especially Gayle.
