BACKHAUT, Leon H. - Age 85, of Venice, FL formerly of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, February 2, 2011 in Venice, FL. Services will be 11:00 AM Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the Machpaleh Cemetery Chapel, Flint, burial will follow. Rabbi Yisroel Winegarten officiating. Leon was born December 5, 1925 in Flint, the son of Frank and Bessie (Natchez) Backhaut. He married Betty Lou Himelhoch and she preceded him in death September 2, 2006. He owned a graphic art designer business. Leon had resided in Venice, FL. for the past 4 years coming from Swartz Creek. Surviving are: 2 sons, Jerome Backhaut of Nokomis, FL and David and wife Signe Backhaut of Clearwater, FL; 2 grandchildren, Rachel Backhaut of Milwaukee, WI and Adam and wife Joy Backhaut of Chattanooga, TN.
